FAQ

Yes, we do have bikes available to rent, as well as some bike accessories. Visit our page Rent a bike for more information, or email us at [email protected].

Most of our tours are suitable for e-bikes as well. However, please be flexible if planning to book a pre-scheduled guided tour. Most of our clients decide to ride on normal bikes, and you might need to wait for the group at certain points.

Yes. Most of our clients decide to ride on their own bikes, so that’s why the bike is not included in the regular tour price. So yes, you can bring your own bike.

Yes, we offer private guided or self-guided tours throughout the season, subject to availability at the time of booking. Please contact us for a personalized offer. The price for private tours is based on the number of participants.

All tour materials, briefings, and guided tours are provided in English. Availability of other languages is not guaranteed.

Although we have organized tours for larger groups in the past, our pre-scheduled guided tours are limited to a maximum of 8 participants. Why? There are several reasons.

  • We primarily work with small, family-run hotels and guesthouses that are unable to accommodate large groups. Splitting the group between different accommodations is often not practical, as suitable alternatives may be too far away.
  • Another important reason is the nature of cycling groups themselves. Pre-scheduled tours typically attract mixed-ability riders, and keeping the group manageable ensures a better experience for everyone – whether during the ride or at coffee and lunch stops, which are often in small, local venues.
  • The recommended guide-to-client ratio for cycling tours is 1:8. This keeps the group size safe, personal, and flexible, especially when guiding groups with varying fitness levels and expectations.

The minimum number of participants required to guarantee departure on a pre-scheduled tour date is 4. Private tours can be organized for less participants as well.

Yes. Many of our guests choose a self-guided tour, either traveling solo or with friends and family. If this option suits you better, we’ll take care of all the logistics and provide a complete navigation package to ensure a smooth and worry-free experience.

Our self-guided tours are ideal for individuals who have prior experience in self-guiding tours and have successfully navigated with a GPS device/phone. Having a basic understanding of bikes is essential, this includes being comfortable with basic bike maintenance tasks such as fixing flat tires or making minor adjustments.

Individuals must be independent and can navigate and orient themselves using the information provided.

If you choose a self-guided tour, we’ll provide you with a complete navigation package. This includes free access to the Ride with GPS mobile app with offline content such as GPS tracks, detailed maps, and a digital tour guide. Before your trip, we’ll also schedule an online briefing to walk you through the route and go over all the important details together.

We don’t sell GPX tracks only. The minimum tour package includes accommodation and the navigation pack.

Airport or other transfers can be arranged upon request and subject to availability. Let us know your preferences, and we’ll provide you with the available options.

Dietary preferences and restrictions are an important part of the planning process, so please let us know your needs in advance – ideally at the time of booking – and we’ll ensure your meals are arranged accordingly.

You can follow one of our classic itineraries, or we can tailor a custom version to suit your preferences, including adding extra nights. Services such as transfers, bike rentals, and luggage transport can also be added or excluded based on your needs.

We typically select small, comfortable 3 or 4-star quality accommodations, such as locally owned hotels and guesthouses. Most of our guests rate their stays as excellent and often praise the charm, hospitality, and authenticity of the places we choose.

Please note that while we generally aim for this standard, the final selection of accommodation also depends on the timing of your booking and availability for your chosen dates. Early booking gives us the best chance to secure our preferred options.

Not every hotel offers laundry service, but we do our best to select biker-friendly accommodations that understand the needs of travelers with limited luggage space. That said, since accommodation depends on availability for your selected dates, we cannot guarantee laundry service at every stop.

Most of our clients opt for baggage transfers, but it’s also possible to do the tour without them and simply wash clothes every second or third day. Just let us know your preferences at the time of booking, and we’ll provide the necessary info.

Yes, absolutely. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll adjust your tour plan and pricing accordingly.

Although we understand such situations, our tours are designed to provide a high-quality, hassle-free experience for our guests. This means the price includes carefully selected accommodation, baggage transfers, start and end transfers, some meals, full organization, navigation support, and more.

We partner with reliable local providers who offer cyclist-friendly accommodation, including secure bike storage and other essential amenities, and we ensure they are fairly compensated for their high-quality service.

If you’re looking for a more flexible or budget-conscious option, we recommend considering one of our self-guided tours, which offer greater independence while still including the core support needed for a smooth trip.

Yes, our tours are designed to be flexible, and we often offer different route variants each day to accommodate varying fitness levels. In most cases, you can choose between easier and more demanding daily routes, depending on your ability and preference.

However, please note that our tours often run through more remote areas, where it is not always possible to shorten or split a stage mid-way, for example, there may be no accommodation in the middle of the route.

If you have any concerns or preferences, feel free to contact us before booking. We’ll be happy to discuss your needs and do our best to find a suitable solution.

Please note that custom routes are only available for private tours.
Pre-scheduled guided tours follow a fixed daily itinerary, including set distances and elevation gains. Clients booking these tours are expected to be capable of completing the planned stages as outlined in the itinerary.

Arrival times vary depending on each guest’s cycling speed and the number of stops made throughout the day. On self-guided tours, riders have full flexibility to manage their own pace, including time for lunch, sightseeing, and rest breaks. Points of interest along the route are marked in the navigation app and included in the daily itinerary descriptions, allowing guests to plan their day according to their preferences.

On guided tours, arrival at the hotel is usually in the afternoon – typically by 4 PM. However, the exact time may vary depending on the group’s pace and how much time is spent at various stops throughout the day.

Our tour season typically runs from May to early October. However, the ideal time to join a tour depends on the specific itinerary. Since our tours cover a variety of landscapes – from Alpine to Mediterranean regions – some are best experienced in the warmer summer months, while others are more enjoyable in the milder conditions of spring or autumn.

We recommend checking the tour details or contacting us for tailored advice based on your preferred travel period and desired experience.

We recommend booking as early as possible. Many of our tours pass through popular outdoor destinations and small villages with limited accommodation options. Early booking increases the chances of securing your preferred hotels, bike type, and the best available price. The best time to book is during fall and winter for the upcoming season. This gives you the best shot at securing top accommodations and guaranteed availability.

Last-minute bookings are subject to availability and may not always be possible during peak season. If confirmed, they often come with a higher price due to limited accommodation options and dynamic pricing.

Booking in advance ensures a smoother planning process and a better overall experience.

All our rental bikes are equipped with standard flat pedals by default. However, if you prefer to use clip-in pedals (e.g. SPD or similar), you’re welcome to bring your own. Our team will gladly install them on your bike at the start of the tour.
For safety reasons, all e-bikes are equipped with standard flat pedals and cannot be fitted with clip-in systems.

If you book a tour and rent a bike as part of the package, the rental includes a helmet.

If you are only renting a bike without booking a tour, helmets are available for an additional fee. Prices are listed on our website under Bike Rental/Price List.

If you book a tour and rent a bike as part of the package, the rental includes a helmet.

If you are only renting a bike without booking a tour, helmets are available for an additional fee. Prices are listed on our website under Bike Rental/Price List.

In Slovenia, wearing a helmet is mandatory for cyclists under the age of 18. For adults, helmet use is not legally required, but it is strongly recommended for safety reasons – especially when cycling in hilly or mountainous terrain or on roads shared with traffic.

However, please note that helmets are mandatory on all our guided tours, regardless of age.

Yes, reusable water bottles are included in the bike rental price. They are provided at the start of your tour and are yours to keep.

If you book a tour and rent a bike as part of the package, the rental includes a bike bag/pannier according to the type of bike selected; Topeak bag (14l) for hadtail bikes and ebikes, Saddle bag (10l) for gravel bikes.

If you are only renting a bike without booking a tour, bags/panniers are available for an additional fee. Prices are listed on our website under Bike Rental/Price List.

Solo travelers can join our pre-scheduled guided tours, but for self-guided tours, we don’t combine individuals into groups. Please contact our team for more information.

Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia) has its own international airport, Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU), located just 20 minutes by car from the city center.

In addition, Ljubljana is conveniently surrounded by several other international airports, all within a 2 to 3-hour drive. These include: Venice (VCE), Trieste (TRS), Treviso (TSF), Klagenfurt (KLU), Graz (GRZ), Zagreb (ZAG).

This makes Ljubljana easily accessible from many European and international destinations.

To confirm a pre-scheduled guided tour, a minimum of 4 participants is required.

For the most up-to-date information on tour availability and guaranteed departures, please contact our team – we’ll be happy to assist you.

Yes, for baggage transfer we allow each participant to bring either:

One large suitcase (up to 20 kg) OR one small suitcase (up to 10 kg) plus a piece of hand luggage (such as a backpack or similar).

Please ensure your luggage complies with these limits to facilitate smooth transfers during the tour.

You can find all detailed information about the tour on our website, including the tour description, difficulty level, and itinerary (click the dropdown menu for detailed daily stages, mileage, and elevation gain). Pricing and what’s included are listed under the guided or self-guided options – just open the corresponding dropdown. You’ll also find useful logistical details and answers to frequently asked questions in the Logistics & FAQ section.

A detailed overview of what’s included is listed under the Guided or Self-Guided options on each specific tour page. Simply open the relevant dropdown menu to see everything that’s covered in the price.

The saddles are standard for the type of bike you choose (e.g. trekking, gravel, e-bike, etc.) and can generally be seen in the bike photo on our website.

If you’d like more detailed specifications, we recommend checking directly on the manufacturer’s website using the exact bike model listed in your booking.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own saddle, as long as it is compatible with the bike model you’ve booked.

Most guests prefer to bring their own phone holders, as they best fit their specific device. However, if you don’t have one, you can purchase a holder from us – we kindly ask that you let us know in advance if you’ll need one.

In your tour materials, you will always find a complete list of accommodations with all relevant contact numbers. Simply call the provided contact number, and someone will come to the location – usually, staff members are nearby.

Some accommodations kindly ask you to inform them of your approximate arrival time (for example, about 1 hour before) so they can prepare for your arrival. All this information is included in your tour materials.

Accommodations generally expect guests to arrive in the afternoon. If you anticipate arriving late (for example, after 6 PM), it is advisable to notify the accommodation in advance to inform them of your later arrival.

All our accommodations are bike-friendly and offer secure storage and charging facilities for electric bikes. They are informed in advance about your needs, so upon check-in, simply remind the staff that you require safe bike storage (not on the street) and charging for your e-bike.

Most of our accommodations offer twin rooms with separate beds; however, this option is not available everywhere.
If a particular accommodation only provides double beds, we will inform you during the booking process. In some cases, sharing a double bed with separate blankets works well for clients.
If you prefer not to share a bed, you can opt for a single room instead. Please note that a single-use supplement will apply.

Bikes are serviced and handed over to guests in perfect working condition. If a malfunction occurs during the tour due to regular use or rider-related incidents (e.g. flat tire, riding over a branch, hitting a hard obstacle, falling with the bike, fallen bike at a stop etc.), it is the responsibility of the user to either: perform minor repairs themselves using the provided tools and spare parts (e.g. inner tubes), OR follow the provided navigation instructions to reach the nearest bike repair shop and cover the cost of the repair.

In the case of a major issue caused by similar reasons that makes it impossible to continue the tour, this is considered an urgent case. The user may contact the tour organizer, who will assist with potential transfers, spare parts, or a replacement bike – at the expense of the person responsible for the damage.

If the malfunction or failure is determined to be caused by a pre-existing issue (e.g. worn-out battery, material defect, etc.), then the tour organizer will cover related costs.

All necessary instructions are provided in your travel materials, specifically in the List of Hotels and Dinner Recommendations sections. You’ll also receive important updates and tips regarding dinner reservations during your pre-tour briefing. Sometimes booking a day ahead works, but we recommend making dinner reservations at least a week in advance, especially in smaller towns with limited dining options.

Once the tour is booked/confirmed, we proceed with reserving all services, including accommodation, transfers, and luggage handling. Due to high season and limited availability on-site, last-minute changes are normally not possible or connected with high cancellation fees. Additionally, our own capacities are often fully booked as well.

While we always do our best to assist in case of serious issues on the ground, changes to the itinerary due to weather are generally not feasible. We encourage guests to embrace the adventure fully – good weather or occasional rain – and come prepared with suitable gear to enjoy the experience regardless of the conditions.

Cycling tours are a wonderful way to experience nature up close, discover hidden gems along the route, and truly connect with the environment – something that’s often missed when traveling by car. However, as all cycling tours take place outdoors, they are inevitably influenced by weather conditions, which unfortunately we cannot control.

Even in case of rain, it is usually necessary to cycle from point A to point B. Sometimes, it’s possible to catch a dry window by starting earlier or later in the day. In rare cases, train or other transport connections might offer an alternative to avoid riding in bad weather, but such options are not always available or feasible.

It’s important to understand that cycling tours aren’t always the sunny, picture-perfect experience often shown in photos – weather can play a role and occasionally bring a challenge. That said, with the right mindset and proper gear, riding in light rain can still be enjoyable. Good equipment makes a big difference in wet or colder conditions.

Here’s a quick read on how to prepare for cycling in the rain.

Most areas along our tours have excellent mobile signal coverage. However, in some remote locations – such as narrow valleys or mountain ridges – signal may be limited or intermittent. Rest assured, all accommodation included on the tours provide free Wi-Fi to keep you connected during your stay.

Most tours are suitable for participants aged 18 and above. Exceptions can be made for those aged 12–17 on family-specific departures, provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult and approved in advance. For participants over 75, we recommend excellent physical condition and prior written approval from our team.

Please note that all age-related exceptions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For full details, we encourage you to review our Terms & Conditions.

Travel insurance is not included in the tour price. We strongly recommend that all participants purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, personal liability, and loss or damage of personal belongings. Having the right insurance provides peace of mind and helps ensure a smooth and worry-free travel experience.

All packing recommendations and a full list of accommodations are included in the tour materials, which you will receive approximately three weeks before the start of your tour. These materials will help you prepare properly and know exactly what to expect each day.

During the tour, you can take a lunch break if there is an option on a given stage (suggestions are included in the navigation package as POIs on each track). On stages that pass through remote areas with no shops or restaurants along the way, you’ll need to rely on food from your bag or backpack – make sure to stock up on snacks before starting the stage.
