Ambassador of sustainable tourism development
Promoting Sustainable Travel
We are committed to providing a top-quality service and authentic experience to our guests, while taking care of the environment and making local stakeholders an important part of our tours.
01Prioritizing green partners
Our itineraries are dominated by destinations committed to sustainable development. We look for authentic local stories and offer our guests the opportunity to take part in boutique experiences, discovering hidden gems instead of visiting overly visited tourist spots.
02Going local
We aim to benefit local environment and communities; therefore, we prioritize local boutique family-ran accommodations and encourage our guests to purchase local products and experience the diverse cuisine, full of seasonal local ingredients.
03Leaving no trace
Sustainable mobility is one of the main features of our tours as they are designed in a way to minimize their carbon footprint – we are working on programs for CO2 compensation.
04Setting the rules and being an example
We have special codes of conduct for responsible behaviour for our guides, accommodation providers, luggage carriers, and customers to show them how they can contribute to our tours being more sustainable.
05Offsetting
Our tours are about more than just sightseeing - they're about creating positive change in the world. That's why we're taking steps to offset the CO2 emissions produced by our tours by supporting reforestation in a Slovenian region that most of our guests visit during their tour. You can also offset the carbon footprint of your transport before and after the tour, by using our carbon footprint calculator and help us create carbon-smart tours.
Our “right hand” in the development of sustainable products is our NGO, GoodPlace, Factory of Sustainable Tourism. GoodPlace is the leading NGO in sustainable tourism development. It is the author of the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism, a multiple-times awarded national certification program.
Together with GoodPlace we developed a system of Green Routes, which are the first and only completely “green” routes in the world. Our aim was to find an authentic local story in each destination, connect local tourism businesses and include local providers from non-tourism sectors to build the story of each destination.

As we are a small company, our people are our most important asset, therefore, our employees' and customers' satisfaction is one of our top priorities. We are focused on continuous improvement and constantly work on new approaches that would increase the positive impacts our business can have on the community and the environment.

Devoted to protecting the environment
Sustainability policy
of Visit GoodPlace
We commit ourselves to act in the following way in order to preserve the environment:
- respect environmental protection legislation,
- monitor the impacts of our activities on the environment,
- fulfill the objectives and measures set in the Sustainablity policy,
- educate employees about our Sustainability policy, objectives and actions
- inform guests and suppliers about our efforts to reduce the negative impacts of our activity on the environment and encourage them to participate and support us,
- promote sustainable mobility and other environmentally friendly practices among our employees.
We pay special attention to the following areas:
Energy consumption
In our office we use energy saving lighting and energy efficient equipment. Our electronic devices are set on energy saving mode. In the winter we turn off the heating after working hours and during summer we do not use air conditioning. Instead, we use natural ventilation. Office light switches and heaters are equipped with stickers encouraging our staff to turn them off when not in use.
Water consumption
At Visit Goodplace we use water carefully. There are colorful stickers next to both office taps, encouraging our staff to save water.
Waste management
We strive to reduce the amount of waste produced in the office, especially the amount of plastic. For this purpose, we purchase goods without or little packaging. Goods are purchased in bulk where possible. We also separate our waste (paper, packaging, glass), which is then disposed to appropriate city containers and recycled.
Consumption of other resources (paper)
Visit Goodplace is reducing paper consumption by focusing on digital marketing and online communication. Printing of the remaining materials is planned carefully and precisely to avoid residual unused materials. We use certificated recycled paper.
Transport reduction
In order to reduce transport, we follow sustainable principles by minimizing number of business trips, choosing more sustainable ways of transport and combining several activities in the same region, so we only make one trip to the area instead of several ones on different dates. When the nature of our work permits us to work individually, we work from home.
HR Policy
In our company we ensure good working conditions. We respect national and international legislation in the field of labor and human rights. Staff members are provided with regular education and training programs and are aware of company sustainability policies, objectives and measures.
Purchasing policy
At Visit Goodplace we are aware that by purchasing local goods and services we contribute to the wellbeing of the local community. Our purchasing policy therefore prioritizes local products, as well as environmentally responsible products and products carrying sustainability certificates (fair trade, organic, FSC etc.).
