Visit GoodPlace official tour operator for the Slovenian and Croatian part of Trans Dinarica cycling route
Something big is happening in our part of the planet. A new cycling route, the kind we have dreamed of for a long time, is being born. Trans Dinarica connects eight Western Balkan countries with its launch on July 31, 2024. Cyclists will ride over Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Serbia.
Since a part of the Visit Goodplace team also participated in the creation of Trans Dinarica itself, we decided to become one of the official Trans Dinarica tour operators, offering guided and self-guided tours, and bicycle rental with all supporting logistics in the area of Slovenia and Croatia.
Already this year, two new tours are available, which can be adjusted at the request of self-guided guests to be a little easier (more road) or a little more difficult (more gravel).
This nine-day gravel tour covers the Slovenian and Croatian sections of the Trans Dinarica route. Beginning in the Soča River Valley, the tour winds through picturesque vineyards in Goriška Brda and the Vipava Valley. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the world-famous Postojna Cave and the medieval Predjama Castle, nestled in a cliffside. The route then leads to the wild nature around Ilirska Bistrica before crossing the border into Croatia.
Here, you’ll pedal along lesser-known roads above the Adriatic Sea, offering magnificent views of the islands. The tour then reaches it’s peak with an exhilarating climb through the Velebit mountains and a refreshing dip in the sea at Senj, a historic coastal town.
Explore Croatia and the Velebit mountain range, a wild and solitary landscape ideal for gravel biking on this Adventure Croatia Gravel Bike Tour. Starting near the port city of Rijeka, riders will immediately ascend into the Velebit, navigating its karst landscape and relishing in the solitude of this remote region. The Croatian section of the Trans Dinarica cycling route includes picturesque stops in traditional villages, where you can sample homegrown produce and local specialties. As you traverse the Velebit, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Adriatic islands, lush forests, and open pastures.
Our favourite part of the tour is cycling the “Majstorska Road,” a scenic gravel route that offers panoramic vistas. The cycling adventure culminates with a visit to the lunar-like landscape of Pag Island, renowned for its sheep cheese, and the dramatic Zrmanja River Canyon.
We look forward to new adventures with you!
